The Great Purification Practice of Vajrasattva

VajrasattvaVajrasattva is considered the great purification practice of all the lineage schools of Vajrayana Buddhism. Buddhism's radical teaching is that at our root we are whole and complete. Our dissatisfaction comes not from sin or evil nature, but from not knowing, or ignorance of, our true nature. Vajra means indestructible nature of wisdom and compassion, and refers to our true nature. Sattva means being.

This fundamental not-knowing leads us to confused actions, which through the karmic laws of cause and effect, lead to suffering. If we could lift the veils of ignorance and uncover our true wisdom, we could break the cycle of action that leads to our unhappiness.

When, through Vajrasattva practice, we remove the emotional and cognitive limitations and delusions of ignorance, our Buddha mind is revealed, and shines brightly.
