The Beginning of Gar Drolma Choling

old shrineGar Drolma Choling owes its existence to the vast and profound compassion of Garchen Rinpoche. Rinpoche prays day and night for the liberation of all sentient beings. He travels the planet working to teach people about the precious Dharma.

Garchen Rinpoche's ceaseless generosity has been the inspiration that has guided us through the early stages and most humble beginning of this center. In the spring of 2002, Garchen Rinpoche asked us to bring Khenpo Sherab Oser to the Miami Valley to teach. Khenpo came that April and did a Green Tara empowerment for us at that time.

CreightonThat June 2002, Rinpoche decided on a name to be used for a new center here. The name he chose, Gar Drolma Choling which is Tibetan for Garchen's Tara Center. We began practices at Gar Drolma Choling at a storefront in Kettering with four members. By 2004 we had grown to a group of fifteen to twenty members.

Then in the spring of 2005, the organization purchased an old church to become our new temple. It is a 4000 square foot building with beautiful antique stained glass and high ceilings.  To this day we feel very fortunate to have found such a space in central Dayton. In addition, our sangha continues to grow and flourish in the dharma.

We hope that Gar Drolma Choling will always be a place full of kindness, wisdom and compassion. May all beings benefit from the activities we engage in as a sangha.

Gar Drolma Choling is a 501(c)(3) non-profit religious organization. We sustain the organization financially throughthe regular donations by individuals who attend practies at the center. If you become a regular member, please consider giving in this way.
